Published 8 times a year, the Beige Book is prepared by one of the 12 Federal Reserve regional banks. The report is actually fairly readable for a government document, and gives a concise snapshot of our economic picture. It is the government’s version of an economic Cliff Notes. Incidentally, they call it the “Beige Book” because — ready for this? — the cover is beige.

Though the color of the Beige Book’s cover appears to be common knowledge, Beige Blog could find no photographic evidence of the physical document itself anywhere on the Internet. We cannot, therefore, conclusively confirm or deny the actual beigeness of the Beige Book.
